It’s not only the locals that dig this town.
In the past week, three film crews (two for horror films, one filming a pilot for ABC) have been spotted on or around the square.
At the moment, I’m listening to the loud whir of film equipment and watching out my window as a massive light is being hoisted up to shine through one of the top floor windows of the old courthouse. It’s a little distracting.
And this isn’t a first-time occurrance. A few months back, people couldn’t stop talking about the sequel to Road Trip being filmed at Agnes Scott College and a local pub. And I’ve written before about my backyard being a film set and the adventures that brought about a year and a half ago.
Not bad for a little Southern town, eh?
I’m not exactly sure if these movie studios love the small-town charm or if Decatur’s just an inexpensive film locale. But with more and more crews showing up, and more and more friends and acquaintences being cast as extras, it at least gives you something interesting to talk about over a pint.
