Strictly for Tree-hugging

The boy sent me a link this morning to with this description:

“If Google had a black screen, taking into account the huge number of times this search engine is used, 750 mega watts/hour of energy per year would be saved. In recognition of this fact, Google has created a black version of its search engine, called Blackle, with the exact same functions as the white version, but with lower energy consumption.”

You can read more about it here:

I’m setting it as my home page, and I would encourage you to do the same. Pass it along. Every little bit helps, right?

    Hey Jenny!

Just to let you know… was not created by Google. It was created by Heap Media – they just source the Google search engine.

Great energy-saving idea – every little bit does help!

Kyle was in a “green meeting” at his office and there was talk of “what if Google’s screen were black” and how much energy it would save!

  2. I prefer using Darkoogle another black Google and is available in over 40 countries

Best of all its got the ‘similar page’ option in the result page like the normal white Google. I use that a lot.
